Living in Tamarindo

Zip Lines & Molten Lava : Arenal, Costa Rica

I’ve been here for a little over a year now and I’ve yet to do anything that doesn’t involve the beach. It’s a little hard to explain but if I’m not surfing on the weekend I feel like I’m missing out on something.

I liken it to the days when I was drinking. I always had to be out and involved in whatever madness was happening for the evening. I was always the last to leave the bar because I knew for a fact that when I left all the blonde and brunette bombshells in town would show up topless and drinks would be on the house. Make sense??

Well that’s kind of how I feel when I’m not surfing on my weekends down here. I know for fact that when I go to that scary place, inland, that all the major surf spots will go off. There will be juicy barrels for miles with no one out.

So I was convinced by a couple of my close friends to be ripped from my beloved local surf spots for a few days and go to this silly volcano near by called, Arenal.. Arenal as the link says is one of the ten most active volcanoes in the world. Next to the beaches it’s probably the most visited site in the country. People from around the world come to not only see the volcano but the unbelievable lake, rain forest, and animals. The lake is know around the world for some of THE best wind surfing on the planet.

Man was it beautiful. If the ocean was 20 minutes away it would be Nirvana. Unfortunately it’s almost 2 and half hours away. Here are a few pretty DYNO MITE pictures I took from our friend’s property.

After we did some cruising around of the volcano we headed over to Tabacon . Tabacon is a resort that has the highest occupancy rate in all the country. I think I was told they are occupied 99% of the time year round.

Why you may be asking? Because they have hot springs that are unbelievable. They probably have anywhere from 8 to 10 different hot spring pools with varying temperatures. Below are some bad videos I took.

On Sunday we headed over to Skyline Adventures. Skyline Adventures is a zip line canopy Tour of the rain forest in the surrounding area. According to our friends this was by far the biggest canopy tour they had seen in the entire country. It was definitely worth the money. I had one of our guides take a video of the longest line they had which I think was around 1200 meters. Check out the video as well as some pictures that were taken. IF YOU CHECK OUT ANY VIDEO FROM MY BLOG CHECK OUT THE ONE BELOW. IT’S AWESOME!

I do believe you must have been upside down when shooting some of this. Glad the adventures keep happening. We have one of our own coming up…China in four days for Christmas. Merry to you and Kristina. Wrightsville and waves are waiting on you both. Love, A/S.
